Padres' C.J. Hinojosa: Invited to Padres camp

Hinojosa was invited to the Padres' major-league spring training Sunday.

Hinojosa elected free agency in early November after spending the 2021 campaign in the Astros' minor-league system, and he'll now serve as a non-roster invitee this spring. He made 104 appearances at Triple-A Sugar Land and slashed .316/.351/.481 with 11 homers, 68 runs, 67 RBI and four stolen bases, and he should be in the mix to make his major-league debut at some point in 2022 if he continues to perform well in the minors.
