Wilcox signed with the Padres on Tuesday for $3.3 million, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.

Wilcox was mentioned as a potential first-round talent in the draft and indeed it took first-round money to get him signed to the organization. His $3.3 million bonus, more than $2.5 million above the slot value (80th), sets a new record for a third-round pick. Chances are, the power righty will not make his professional debut until 2021.
