Spangenberg went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Brewers.

The 26-year-old has been flashing some power since taking over for Ryan Schimpf as the Padres' starting third baseman, homering for the third time in six games. The infielder is doing his best impression of the player he replaced in the lineup, carrying a 36.4 percent strikeout rate along with the newfound power stroke since Schimpf's demotion June 9. Spangenberg's batting average is sure to suffer if he continues to be this aggressive at the plate, but a career-high 30.0 hard contact rate over 161 plate appearances this season could be a sign that he has a little more pop than initially anticipated.
