Altavilla and the Padres reached a one-year, $850,000 deal Friday.

Altavilla and San Diego won't require an arbiter during the offseason after agreeing to a one-year contract Friday. The right-hander was included on the team's NLDS roster in 2020 after he was acquired by the Padres at the trade deadline. He should take on a middle-relief role in 2021 after posting a 5.75 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 20.1 innings with the Mariners and Padres during the shortened 2020 campaign.
