Diaz was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

The right-hander was recalled by the Padres just before the All-Star break and made three appearances during his stint in the majors. Diaz covered 3.2 scoreless frames in two outings, but he surrendered four runs in one inning during his other appearance. Overall he's been a solid bullpen piece for the Friars this year with a 3.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 32:16 K:BB across 29.1 innings, so he should be back in the majors before too long.
