Waddell had his contract selected by the Pirates on Sunday.
The 26-year-old was included in the Pirates' 60-player pool and will now have the chance to make his big-league debut. Waddell spent most of 2019 at Triple-A Indianapolis but struggled with an 8.70 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 69:40 K:BB over 61 innings.
