Polanco will start in right field and bat third against the Cardinals on Friday.
The outfielder hasn't played since injuring his hamstring for a third time on Aug. 12. Because of Polanco's multiple trips to the disabled list in 2017 due to the same injury, it's at least a bit surprising Pittsburgh activated him with little to play for.
