Rangers' Edinson Volquez: Cleared for throwing program

Volquez (elbow) has been cleared to play catch, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Volquez has been shut down from throwing for the last month while recovering from a right elbow sprain, but he's been granted the green light to begin playing catch. Only time will tell whether the right-hander will manage to return from the injured list without requiring Tommy John surgery.
