Verdugo opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning. The outfielder came up clutch in the eighth, as his first homer since June 15 put Boston ahead for good. The 25-year-old is slashing .275/.342/.422 with 10 long balls, 39 RBI, 62 runs scored and five stolen bases through 392 plate appearances.
