Red Sox's Brock Holt: Starts at second base Saturday
Holt started at second base in place of a resting Dustin Pedroia and went 1-for-4 in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Rays.
The Red Sox are managing Pedroia, who is experiencing inflammation in his left knee, and need a fill-in second baseman every few days. With Eduardo Nunez (knee) sidelined, Holt becomes the primary fallback plan. When you throw in Hanley Ramirez's biceps injury, which has forced him to miss the last three games, the resulting player shuffle has given Holt three straight starts. Once Nunez returns, which could be as early as this coming weekend, Holt's at-bats will dry up a bit.
