Cordero will start at first base and bat eighth Monday against the Blue Jays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Cordero logged only 38 innings worth of experience at first base at Triple-A Worcester prior to his call-up last week, but that's apparently enough for the Red Sox to give him a look at the position while Bobby Dalbec continues to struggle versus right-handed pitching and while Christian Arroyo (hamstring), Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) and Danny Santana (groin) are on the shelf. The 26-year-old picked up his first start at first base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Yankees, going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Expect either Cordero or Michael Chavis to occupy the position versus right-handed pitching until the Red Sox regain some health.
