Red Sox's Rick Porcello: Fires gem en route to 10th win
Porcello (10-17) earned the win after allowing one unearned run on five hits and one walk in 7.1 innings Saturday against the Rays. He struck out three batters.
After losing to the same Tampa Bay team in his previous outing, Porcello bounced back with one of his best starts of the season, flashing his Cy Young form from last season. While he didn't get too many strikeouts, he was able to take a shutout into the eighth inning before an unearned run scored. The 28-year-old had struggled to a 5.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over his past four starts, so it's nice to see him turn things around heading into the final weeks of the season. He'll look to keep lowering his 4.46 ERA in his next start, which is scheduled for Friday against the Reds.
