Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: May return Monday
Bogaerts, who has sat out the last three games, could return to the lineup Monday against Toronto, according to manager John Farrell, Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald reports.
Farrell mentioned Bogaerts being "banged up" and cited a litany of minor ailments while also acknowledging the three-game break was about giving him a break after a two-month slump -- a downturn that can be traced back to when he was hit by a pitch on the hand July 6. Monday is a good spot for Bogaerts, as the Red Sox will be facing a left-hander (J.A. Happ) in the series opener against the Blue Jays. He has an .820 career OPS against southpaws.
