Williams cleared waivers Friday and was outrighted to the Reds' alternate site.

Williams produced an above-average batting line in both of his first two seasons in the league but has fallen far since then. After posting a wRC+ of 12 in 67 games last season, he failed to make a big-league appearance for both the Phillies and Reds this year, and now he wasn't even claimed by another team for free. His chances of making an impact at the highest level next season appear slim.
