Gutierrez tossed five innings of one-run ball while allowing two hits, two walks and striking out six in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs. He did not factor into the game's decision.

The right-hander surrendered his only run on a first-inning solo home run by Ian Happ. It was the first time he made it to five innings since Aug. 22. In his previous two starts he combined to pitch 6.1 innings while allowing eight runs. Gutierrez will look to continue his success from this start in his next expected outing Wednesday versus the Pirates.
