Rockies' Mark Reynolds: Gets breather Thursday
Reynolds is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
Reynolds will get the day off after drawing five consecutive starts at first base, going just 3-for-22 (.136) with one homer during that span. The 34-year-old slugger has been a surprise source of production this season after joining the Rockies on a minor-league deal in spring training, slashing .266/.352/.492 with 29 homers and 93 RBI through 136 games. He'll continue to see his fair share of starts down the stretch, but Ian Desmond will take over for him at first base for Thursday's series finale.
