Phillips is not in the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Tigers.
Phillips went 2-for-3 with a run scored Saturday but will park on the bench against Detroit left-hander Daniel Norris. Jorge Bonifacio will start in right field as Salvador Perez serves as designated hitter.
