Royals' Joba Chamberlain: Designated for assignment Tuesday
Chamberlain was designated for assignment Tuesday.
Chamberlain made just six appearances with the Royals after the club signed him to a minor league deal in the beginning of September, posting a 7.94 ERA and 1.765 WHIP in 5.2 innings. The 30-year-old will have the opportunity to become a free agent if he so chooses, but it's unclear what kind of interest he might receive on the open market after a dismal 2015 campaign.
