Lorenzen was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.
The Royals placed Lorenzen on the 15-day injured list that same day due to the hamstring strain, which carries a 2-to-3-week recovery timetable. Lorenzen will be able to keep his arm in shape by playing catch while he's on the mend from the injury, but he'll need time for the muscle in his right leg to heal before he's able to step back on the mound for a bullpen session. Alec Marsh was called up from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday to replace Lorenzen in the rotation.
