Tigers' A.J. Achter: Agrees to NRI deal with Tigers

Achter signed a minor league contract with the Tigers on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Achter appeared in the major leagues each of the past three seasons, most recently posting a respectable 3.11 ERA 37.2 innings out of the Angels bullpen. That being said, he doesn't miss too many bats (as his 4.8 career K/9 suggests) and struggles with the longball (1.9 career HR/9), so his ceiling likely sits at that of a low-leverage middle reliever.
