Tigers' Anibal Sanchez: Will join big-league rotation Monday

Sanchez will be recalled Monday from Triple-A Toledo to start the Tigers' series opener against the Mariners that evening, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

In an effort to avoid overtaxing their other five starters, the Tigers will roll out a six-man rotation this week that includes Sanchez, who will be making his first start for the big club all season. Sanchez languished in long relief for the Tigers earlier this season (9.00 ERA, 2.05 WHIP in 21 innings) before being demoted to Triple-A in May. Despite a minor setback with a hamstring injury, he's pitched respectably for Toledo, turning in a 20:5 K:BB over 15 innings across four outings. For the time being, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus seems committed to using the six-man setup through one turn in the rotation, so Sanchez will need to deliver a vintage performance Monday in order to garner future starts.
