St. John re-signed Monday with the Tigers on a minor-league contract, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

St. John hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2019, but he may have put himself on the cusp of a call-up to Detroit last season based on his performance with Triple-A Toledo. Over 36 appearances out of the Toledo bullpen, St. John submitted a 2.58 ERA and 75:25 K:BB in 59.1 innings. He should get the opportunity to compete for a relief gig with the big club in spring training, though his lack of a 40-man roster spot makes it more likely than not that he returns to Toledo to begin the 2022 campaign.
