Garcia looks more likely for the Opening Day roster with the Tigers sending down several other pitchers Monday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Bryan Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Toledo, while Jacob Barnes, Miguel Diaz and Wily Peralta were all optioned to minor-league camp Monday. This is good news for Garcia, who tossed just 3.2 innings for the Tigers last season before getting shut down with a left knee injury. The 24-year-old did log 21 innings in 2020 and could serve as a middle reliever for Detroit throughout 2022, assuming he stays healthy.
