Garcia is the likely starter at second base for the White Sox.

Garcia and prospect Nick Madrigal were contenders for the starting job during spring training, but the White Sox were leaning toward the veteran in March. As Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reported last week, the White Sox are not sure if Madrigal will be ready for an everyday job on the new Opening Day, but general manager Rick Hahn said the prospect will "help us at some point over the course of the summer." Garcia's value as a utility man -- he can play infield and outfield -- will keep him active through the 60-game schedule but not as busy as 2019, when he appeared in 86 percent (140 of 162) of Chicago's games.
