Yankees' Brett Gardner: Stuck in ninth spot
Gardner is hitting ninth and starting in left field for the third straight game Monday against Oakland.
The arrival of Andrew McCutchen seems to have bumped Gardner from the leadoff role, sending him as far down the order as possible. As the new "second leadoff man," Gardner will still get to hit in front of the Yankees' sluggers, giving him plenty of opportunities to score, but his counting stats as a whole will suffer as he loses nearly a plate appearance per game.
