    • Giants' Conor Gillaspie: Clears waivers
      By RotoWire Staff

Gillaspie cleared waivers Sunday and was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Gillaspie was designated for assignment Wednesday but did not garner the interest of any other big-league clubs. He'll likely receive regular playing time with Sacramento moving forward.

    • Gillaspie was designated for assignment following Wednesday's loss to the Athletics, Andrew Baggarly of The Mercury News reports. The move was inevitable for the Giants' 2016 postseason hero after he struggled mightily in a limited role this year (.163/.218/.288 in 87 plate appearances). Gillaspie figures to reject a move to the minors in hopes of latching on as a bench bat with a contender. Ryder Jones was called up to take his spot on the roster and in the lineup.

    • Gillaspie is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Athletics, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Since southpaw Sean Manaea is starting on the mound for Oakland, Gillaspie will cede Tuesday's start to avoid the lefty-on-lefty matchup. Jae-Gyun Hwang will man the hot corner in his stead.

    • Giants' Conor Gillaspie: Takes seat Monday
      By RotoWire Staff

Gillaspie is not in the lineup Monday against the Athletics, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Despite knocking a pinch-hit home run in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers, Gillaspie will head to the bench for a third straight contest. He's slashing just .171/.229/.303 in 83 plate appearances this season, so GIllaspie's from a desirable option at third base. Jae-Gyun Hwang will draw another start at the hot corner in his place.

    • Giants' Conor Gillaspie: Homers off bench Sunday
      By RotoWire Staff

Gillaspie went 1-for-2 with a pinch-hit home run in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday. The 30-year-old didn't start with the left-handed Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound, but he left his mark once the Dodgers turned to their bullpen. Gillaspie has been splitting time at the hot corner with Jae-Gyun Hwang following the trade of Eduardo Nunez, but his .171/.229/.303 line leaves much to be desired even if he is on the favorable side of a platoon.
