The Braves have signed pitcher Kanekoa Texeira to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. Texeira hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2011. He made nine starts with Bridgeport of the independent Atlantic League, going 3-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 31:16 K:BB ratio in 51 2/3 innings.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Reds optioned pitcher Andrew Brackman, outfielder Denis Phipps and infielder Chris Valaika to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. The team also reassigned pitchers Carlos Fisher, Ron Mahay, Clayton Tanner, Kanekoa Texeira and Clay Zavada to minor-league camp.
