Satterwhite agreed to a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. The 31-year-old right-hander has yet to make a big-league appearance, but his past performance in the minors hardly calls for a promotion. With Triple-A Syracuse last season, Satterwhite could only muster a 4.35 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP in 49.2 relief innings. He'll likely serve as an organizational depth piece in his return to the organization.
Satterwhite signed a minor league contract with the Orioles on Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. Satterwhite tossed 18 frames for Triple-A Salt Lake last season, also pitching in Japan to solid results. The Orioles will give the 29-year-old another shot with an MLB organization, though it's unclear if his contract comes with an invite to spring training. If he were to sneak into a 25-man roster spot, Satterwhite would likely serve in a middle relief for Baltimore.
The Mets announced Tuesday they reassigned pitchers Matt Bowman, Tyler Pill, Hansel Robles, Cody Satterwhite and Gabriel Ynoa. They join outfielder Brandon Nimmo, infielder Gavin Cecchini and catcher Xorge Carrillo, who were reassigned last week.
