Harvey (lat) signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Saturday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports. Harvey missed the final few weeks of the 2020 season due to a right lat strain, but he'll presumably compete for a big-league roster spot during spring training in 2021. The 31-year-old made seven appearances (four starts) for the Royals last year, posting an 11.57 ERA and 2.74 WHIP over 11.2 innings.

Harvey (lat) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Wednesday. The veteran right-hander was already ruled out for the season with the right lat strain, so the move is just procedural to clear a spot on Kansas City's 40-man roster. Harvey posted an 11.57 ERA, 2.74 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB over 11.2 innings before going down with the injury.

The Royals placed Harvey on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right lat strain. Harvey's injury had previously been deemed right posterior shoulder discomfort, but a different label for the injury was provided when Kansas City announced his move to the IL. In any case, the injury will sideline Harvey for the remainder of the season, as the 20-29 Royals would need a miracle to reach the playoffs. Over his seven appearances (four starts) with Kansas City, Harvey posted an 11.57 ERA and 2.74 WHIP across 11.2 innings.

Harvey exited Tuesday's loss to the Tigers with right posterior shoulder discomfort, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports. The veteran right-hander struck out the first two batters he faced but exited with the shoulder issue after giving up a solo homer, a double and a single. It was Harvey's first outing since shifting to the bullpen, and it's unclear how long he'll be sidelined.

Harvey will move into the bullpen going forward, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports. Harvey has turned things around during his last two appearances after struggling mightily to begin the season, but he'll transition to the bullpen with Carlos Hernandez (abdomen) starting for the Royals on Saturday. It's unclear whether the Royals will continue to utilize a six-man rotation or if they'll use five starters for the remainder of the season. Harvey carries an 11.70 ERA and 2.70 WHIP over 10 innings during five appearances (four starts) this year.
