  • Marshall (elbow) will enter free agency, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports. The righty will miss all of 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, so he figures to remain a free agent until next offseason. Time will tell whether Marshall, turning 33 early in the 2023 season, will return from surgery to be an impactful MLB reliever again.

In total, Marshall made five appearances for Triple-A Charlotte but was shut down following an outing Sept. 4. The reliever received a second opinion to ensure he should continue his comeback and received an injection in the elbow. "This has been a process," Marshall said. "But I think we're heading in the right direction after the little bump in the road." He's targeting the postseason for a potential return.
