  • Royals' Jorge Bonifacio: Signs minors deal with KC

Bonifacio signed a minor-league contract Thursday with the Royals. Bonifacio found a familiar landing spot after a long winter of waiting. He appeared in 187 major-league games with Kansas City between 2017-2019 before brief and unsuccessful stints with the Tigers and Phillies. The 29-year-old outfielder spent all of 2022 at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and slashed .240/.336/.407 in 112 games there.

  • Phillies' Jorge Bonifacio: Optioned to Triple-A

Bonifacio was optioned back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. The 28-year-old collected one hit in 11 at-bats over five games in the majors. Travis Jankowski has been reinstated from the paternity list and will take Bonifacio's spot on the roster.

  • Phillies' Jorge Bonifacio: Contract selected Friday

Bonifacio's contract was selected from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. Bonifacio was DFA'd by the Phillies on Tuesday, but he cleared waivers and will now rejoin the major-league roster as outfield depth after Luke Williams (undisclosed) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. The 28-year-old has gone 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in two major-league appearances this season.

  • Phillies' Jorge Bonifacio: Designated for assignment

Bonifacio was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Tuesday. Bonifacio's contract was selected Friday, but he'll be dropped from the roster less than a week later after going 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts during his brief time with the team. His modest .243/.313/.396 career slash line would point to him likely passing through waivers unclaimed.

  • Phillies' Jorge Bonifacio: Contract selected, starting

Bonifacio's contract was selected by the Phillies on Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Bonifacio landed a minor-league deal with the Phillies in late May, and he appeared in 71 games between the Double-A and Triple-A clubs. He slashed .273/.372/.546 with 15 home runs, 54 RBI, 49 runs and four stolen bases during that time, and he'll join the major-league roster after Mauricio Llovera was designated for assignment. Bonifacio is starting in center field and batting sixth in Friday's game against the Padres.

  • Jorge Bonifacio: Finds work in Mexico

Bonifacio signed a contract Monday with the Guadalajara Mariachis of the Mexican League. Bonfiacio will head south of the border after he was unable to land a contract with an MLB team this winter as a free agent. The 27-year-old outfielder spent the abbreviated 2020 campaign in the Tigers organization, appearing in 30 games and accruing a .221/.277/.326 slash line over 94 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Dropped from 40-man roster

Bonifacio cleared waivers Tuesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo. Bonifacio came to the plate 94 times for the Tigers this season but did very little with his opportunities, hitting .221/.277/.326. He'll remain with the organization as minor-league depth for now.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Sits for second straight

Bonifacio remains on the bench Wednesday against the Twins. Bonifacio had started nine out of 10 games in left field before sitting for the last two. It's hard to say he deserves an everyday role, as he's hitting .232/.281/.341 on the year in 89 plate appearances. Harold Castro starts in left field in his place.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Sitting amid slump

Bonifacio is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Twins. He had a hot second week of September but has since cooled down, hitting .111 with eight strikeouts over his last 18 at-bats. Brandon Dixon, whose contract was purchased earlier in the day, is starting in left field and batting fifth.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Running hot at plate

Bonifacio went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-0 win over the Royals. Bonifacio has produced multi-hit games in three of his last five starts, lifting his season batting average from .191 to .270 over that stretch. So long as Bonifacio continues to wield a hot bat, expect him to have a regular spot in Detroit's lineup. He'll start in right field and will bat sixth Wednesday in the series finale with the Royals.

Bonifacio went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run during a 6-3 win over the Cardinals in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader. After sitting during the matinee, Bonifacio came up big in the nightcap, with his blast off Ryan Helsley in the seventh inning capping a five-run comeback. The outfielder is now slashing .235/.278/.392 with two homers and 12 RBI through 18 games.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Holding down regular role

Bonifacio will start in right field and will bat seventh in Monday's series finale against the Twins. Rather than prospect Derek Hill, Bonifacio has been the main beneficiary since top center fielder JaCoby Jones (hand) suffered a likely season-ending injury last week. Bonifacio will draw his fourth consecutive start in the corner outfield Monday while Victor Reyes covers Jones' old post in center field. Bonifacio is slashing a pedestrian .216/.275/.351 through his first 14 games with the Tigers, but he turned in one of his better performances of the season in Sunday's 10-8 win, going 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Starting Saturday

Bonifacio is starting in right field and batting sixth in Saturday's game against the Twins. JaCoby Jones (hand) is likely out for the rest of the season and Cameron Maybin was traded to the Cubs at the deadline, so there is more playing time up for grabs in the Detroit outfield these days. Bonifacio has appeared in 12 games for the Tigers so far and is slashing .179/.258/.321.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Hits first home run

Bonifacio went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-4 win over Cleveland. Bonifacio picked a good time for his first hit of the season, taking Carlos Carrasco deep in the fourth inning to push the Tigers ahead 4-1. The 27-year-old outfielder has been earning more playing time lately ahead of the likes of Christin Stewart and Cameron Maybin, though none of the three players look like particularly strong fantasy options at the moment.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Starting Sunday

Bonifacio is starting in right field and batting seventh in Sunday's game against Cleveland, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports. Bonifacio will end up starting the bookends of the weekend series, with Christin Stewart drawing a start in Saturday's game. Stewart is batting just .151 with a .469 OPS, so there's an opportunity for Bonifacio to earn more playing time if he performs well, though so far he's hitless in seven at-bats this season.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Starting Friday

Bonifacio is starting in right field and batting seventh in Friday's game against Cleveland. Bonifacio joined Detroit's active roster on Wednesday and this will be his second start in three games. Corner outfielders Cameron Maybin and Christin Stewart have both been struggling, so Bonifacio could earn himself more playing time if he gets hot at the plate. Victor Reyes is also in the mix and is starting in left Friday.

The 27-year-old appeared in 74 games for the Royals over the past two seasons, slashing .234/.317/.371 with four home runs and 26 RBI.

  • Tigers' Jorge Bonifacio: Misses out on roster

The Tigers assigned Bonifacio to their alternate training site in Toledo on Thursday. Bonifacio was unable to crack the Tigers' 30-man Opening Day roster after Detroit elected to begin the season with only four outfielders (JaCoby Jones, Cameron Maybin, Victor Reyes and Christin Stewart). Bonifacio, a non-roster invitee, spent most of the 2019 season at Triple-A Omaha in the Royals organization, slashing .222/.284/.417 over 500 plate appearances.
