Querecuto signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Querecuto got his first major league action with four games in September 2016, but failed to hit above .250 at either Double-A Montgomery or Triple-A Durham during the rest of the season. He's likely just middle infield depth for the Giants.
Querecuto was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Despite being only 24 years old, Querecuto hasn't emerged as a integral part of the Rays future over the six years he's spent in the minor leagues. The infielder will likely act as organizational depth going forward.
