Marzilli is 6-for-25 (.240) with three doubles, an RBI, and six walks through seven games with Triple-A Reno. Marzilli is not doing much in the hit department early, but he is excelling at getting on base, posting a .387 OBP in his seven games. Marzilli has never appeared in a big league game, but he hit well this spring before being slowed by a groin injury, so he could be an option for the major league club at some point this season.
Marzilli is unlikely to make the Opening Day roster due to a groin injury that his limited him of late, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports. Marzilli posted a 1.065 OPS over 34 spring at-bats, but despite the respectable performance, the 25-year-old has been limited by health concerns. Look for the left-handed outfielder to eventually compete for a roster spot down the stretch, and as long as he's healthy, he should be one of the first few names considered when a roster spot with the big league club opens up.
