Green will play in the Arizona Fall League this year, Corey Seidman of CSN Philadelphia reports. Green, 23, was promoted to Double-A Reading earlier this month despite only hitting .221/.276/.393 with five home runs in 140 at-bats for High-A Clearwater. The 2012 third-round pick isn't considered much of a prospect, but he'll get a chance to make an impression in the AFL this offseason.
Green is hitting .255/.317/.413 with 21 doubles and 11 home runs in 317 at-bats for High-A Clearwater. Green, 22, is spending his second season at Clearwater after missing significant time with an injury last season. The former third-round pick is showing good power, but his 97 strikeouts in 85 games indicates he has some major holes in his swing.
Zach Green is the latest prospect to emerge at the hot corner for the Phillies. Already equipped with Cody Asche and Maikel Franco, Green is beginning to emerge as another third-base prospect for the Phillies as he's off to a promising start at short-season Class A Williamsport. The 2012 third-round pick is batting .310 with one triple, four home runs, six doubles, 11 runs and 13 RBI in 12 games. The 6-3, 210-pounder infielder has a .786 slugging percentage and 1.186 OPS. "He's a big strong kid and he has some thunder in his bat," director of player development Joe Jordan told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "He can leave the ballpark to a lot of different fields. His offense is ahead of his defense right now."
