Turner went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Padres. Turner's fifth-inning home run was the first of his career. This was the little-used backup catcher's first start since July 18 and his .167/.217/.238 line coming in suggests this effort won't be enough to earn more playing time.
Turner has two hits and two walks in only 12 plate appearances since the start of July. Turner hasn't made a start since July 18 and is utilized sparingly as a pinch hitter. The 25-year-old saw infrequent starts with Devin Mesoraco injured to start the season, but is only slashing .171/.222/.244 in 45 plate appearances this season. Turner doesn't sniff enough playing time to currently warrant fantasy consideration.
Turner has two hits in only seven at-bats since coming off the disabled list in mid-June. The 25-year-old remains Cincinnati's third catcher behind Devin Mesoraco and Tucker Barnhart, so expect his current usage rate to remain the same. Turner has a .176/.216/.265 slash line in 37 plate appearances during his first season in the majors.
Turner (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Sunday. The strained hamstring that had kept Turner out for the past month is no longer an issue, so he'll rejoin the big club to serve as the Reds' third catcher. Don't expect Turner to see much usage behind Devin Mesoraco and Tucker Barnhart.
Turner (hamstring) will have a good chance to be activated from the DL on Sunday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Turner has been on the DL for nearly a month with a nagging hamstring strain, but it appears he's nearing the end of his rehab stint at Triple-A. Per Rosecrans, Turner will likely get a travel day Saturday before officially returning to the Reds on Sunday. Turner has struggled in limited action for the Reds, going just 4-for-29 at the plate in 13 games this season.
