  • Gallagher (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against Cleveland. Gallagher moved to the injured list Sept. 5 with left knee inflammation, but he was able to begin a rehab stint with Triple-A Omaha over the weekend. He went 2-for-7 with one RBI and two runs scored across two games. With Sebastian Rivero being optioned to open up a spot on the 28-man roster, Gallagher will serve as Salvador Perez's lone backup during the final 11 games of the season.

The backstop went on the injured list Sept. 5 with left knee inflammation, but he's now set to resume playing in live games just 13 days later. • Gallagher (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports. Left knee inflammation resulted in Gallagher's removal from Saturday's game and will now sideline him for at least 10 days. It's unclear if he's dealing with a more substantial injury, but such details should become available shortly. Sebastian Rivero will handle the backup catching duties until Gallagher returns.

  • Gallagher went 1-for-1 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Cubs. Gallagher entered Friday's game as a defensive replacement in the bottom of the eighth inning after Salvador Perez (neck) suffered an injury. The 28-year-old gave the Royals some insurance during his lone at-bat in the top of the ninth inning by hitting his first homer of 2021. Gallagher has had sporadic playing time but is in line for increased at-bats if Perez misses any additional games.
