Eaves agreed to a minor-league contract with the Tigers that includes an invitation to spring training. Eaves is unlikely to make the big-league roster after spending the majority of this past season at the Double-A level. He did earn a promotion to Triple-A Toledo in late July but hit just .160/.232/.240 with four RBI and 21 strikeouts in 22 games with the Mud Hens.
Eaves was reassigned to the minor leagues Thursday, Evan Woodberry of MLive.com reports. Eaves went 4-for-15 with three walks and one extra-base hit through 12 spring training games. After being sent down to the minors, he figures to start the regular season at Triple-A Toledo.
