    • O'Neill (hamstring) was placed on the seven-day injured list at Triple-A Memphis on Saturday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. O'Neill is specifically suffering from a left hamstring spasm, but it reportedly isn't a serious setback for the promising outfielder. The 23-year-old is currently slashing .250/.304/.500 with the Redbirds, a line partly comprised of four doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI.

    • Cardinals' Tyler O'Neill: Day-to-day at Triple-A
      By RotoWire Staff

O'Neill won't get the call as the 26th man for Wednesday's doubleheader against the Royals as he's day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. Lane Thomas gets the call for the day instead of O'Neill. O'Neill struggled to a .263/.282/.395 line in 21 games for the Cardinals at the start of the season but has posted a strong .288/.339/.692 line since a demotion to Triple-A Memphis.

    • O'Neill is hitting .293 (12-for-41) with five home runs, 11 RBI, three walks, a stolen base and 12 runs in 10 games since returning to Triple-A Memphis. O'Neill was optioned to the Redbirds on May 4 following a solid 21-game stint at the big-league level to open the season. The slugging outfielder did continue struggling with contact (46.2 percent strikeout rage) during that stint, but his work with the Redbirds since being sent down is certainly encouraging. The big-league club's outfield remains crowded at the moment with Jose Martinez keeping himself in the lineup due to his red-hot bat, but O'Neill is likely to be back up at some point in the season.

    • Cardinals' Tyler O'Neill: Sent to Triple-A
      By RotoWire Staff

O'Neill was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Saturday. With Luke Gregerson (shoulder) coming off the injured list, the Cardinals opted to send an outfielder down, rather than another relief pitcher. O'Neill is hitting .263 with one home run and a 46.2 percent strikeout rate in 38 at-bats this season. He has not received consistent opportunities at the big-league level but also has very little left to prove at Triple-A.

    • Cardinals' Tyler O'Neill: Pinch hits in return
      By RotoWire Staff

O'Neill (elbow) was retired as a pinch hitter in a loss to the Reds on Friday. Manager Mike Shildt wasted no time in getting the slugging outfielder back on the field following his activation Friday. The 23-year-old projects to return to a reserve role that should afford him periodic starts at multiple outfield spots.
