    • Paulino was optioned to minor-league camp Friday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as manager Charlie Montoyo recently mentioned Paulino as a possible setup option for the Blue Jays following injuries to Ryan Tepera (elbow) and John Axford (elbow). The 25-year-old right-hander, who posted a 5.40 ERA and 10:3 K:BB through five frames this spring, figures to join the Blue Jays' bullpen at some point in 2019.

    • Paulino struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning during Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves. Paulino's path to a set-up job got clearer when Ryan Tepera (elbow) and John Axford (elbow) were both ruled out for the beginning of the season. The right-hander has a 10:3 K:BB through five spring frames, and he has the raw stuff to thrive in a late-inning role if he can maintain his focus.
