    • Pirates' Alex McRae: Sent to minors
      By RotoWire Staff

McRae was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. McRae was rocked for six runs on eight hits (three home runs) and three walks while fanning six over 4.1 innings Monday night, so the Pirates will send the right-hander down for a fresh arm. Dovydas Neverauskas replaced McRae on the 25-man roster.

    • McRae made his season debut Monday, allowing two earned runs in three relief innings. He gave up three hits and struck out three batters. The righty yielded back-to-back homers to Derek Dietrich and Yasiel Puig. He threw 36 of 50 pitches for strikes and performed well enough to earn additional consideration as a multi-inning reliever. McRae compiled a 5.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in five starts covering 48.2 Triple-A innings prior to his recall.

    • Pirates' Alex McRae: Shifts to minors camp
      By RotoWire Staff

The Pirates assigned McRae to their minor-league camp Tuesday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. McRae reached the big leagues for the first time last season, making two appearances for the Pirates and giving up four earned over 6.1 innings. The Pirates didn't see enough upside in the right-hander to justify keeping him on the 40-man roster through the offseason, so he'll have a more difficult path in making it back to the majors in 2019.

    • The Pirates re-signed McRae to a minor-league contract Saturday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports. The 25-year-old spent much of the 2018 campaign at Triple-A Indianapolis but received his first cup of coffee at the big-league level, making two appearances for the Pirates while giving up four earned runs and posting a 5:5 K:BB across 6.1 innings. His deal includes an invitation to big-league spring training, though he'll most likely be headed back to Indianapolis to begin 2019.
