    • Pirates' Alex McRae: Banished to minors
      By RotoWire Staff

McRae was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. McRae was lit up during Monday's start, surrendering seven runs (five earned) over 1.1 innings of work. His poor performance has resulted in a demotion, and it'll likely be Yefry Ramirez who gets a chance to join the rotation moving forward.

      By RotoWire Staff

McRae (0-3) gave up seven runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out none through 1.1 innings to take the loss against the Reds on Monday. Stepping in for the recently-traded Jordan Lyles, McRae was responsible for five of the 10 runs given up by the Pirates in the second inning. The 26-year-old has struggled mightily, posting a 9.98 ERA and a 15:9 K:BB through 15.1 innings. McRae will make his next start Sunday against the Mets at PNC Park.

    • Pirates' Alex McRae: Slated to start Monday
      By RotoWire Staff

McRae will start Monday against the Reds, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. McRae will get the ball for Monday's series opener in Cincinnati after Jordan Lyles -- who was originally scheduled to start -- was traded to the Brewers in exchange for minor-leaguer Cody Ponce. The 26-year-old McRae has made five appearances (all in relief) for the big club this season, posting a 7.71 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 15:7 K:BB in 14 innings. It remains to be seen whether McRae will stick in the rotation beyond Monday's spot start.

      By RotoWire Staff

The Pirates recalled McRae from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. McRae will give the Pirates some added coverage in the bullpen for the team's series finale Thursday versus St. Louis after five relievers handled the final 7.1 innings of Wednesday's 14-8 loss. He'll assume the active roster spot of Luis Escobar, who was optioned to Indianapolis after serving up five runs across two innings Wednesday.

McRae was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. McRae was rocked for six runs on eight hits (three home runs) and three walks while fanning six over 4.1 innings Monday night, so the Pirates will send the right-hander down for a fresh arm. Dovydas Neverauskas replaced McRae on the 25-man roster.
