    • Jake Peavy: Schedules private throwing session
      By RotoWire Staff

Peavy is going to throw a private session for visiting Marines in Arizona in the next few days, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 35-year-old still refuses to close the book on his playing career, and although it's tabbed as a private session, it's hard to believe that some teams in need of starting pitching depth wouldn't do their best to be present. Peavy struggled last season to the tune of a 5.54 ERA and ultimately spent time as a reliever for the Giants, but his vast portfolio of major league experience could land him a job if he can effectively throw all his offerings.

    • Jake Peavy: Still looking to pitch in 2017
      By RotoWire Staff

Peavy, who is unsigned at this point, is still hoping to find a team to pitch for in 2017, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports. After a rough year personally and professionally in 2016, Peavy is taking time to be with his family before he returns to the diamond. "It hurts not to be in spring training," Peavy said. "I know that day is coming, but right now being a dad is absolutely No. 1." The 35-year-old posted a career-worst 5.54 ERA across 118.2 innings with the Giants last year, but is hoping he is healthier and more well-rested for the upcoming season. He has said he is not yet ready to commit to a team, but he has been working out and will hold a showcase when he is ready.

    • Giants' Jake Peavy: Will be activated Wednesday
      By RotoWire Staff

Peavy (back) will be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Peavy spent the last few weeks on the disabled list with his lower back strain, but he is ready to rejoin the big club. He figures to work out of the bullpen but could be used for a spot start if needed.

    • Giants' Jake Peavy: Lands on DL with back strain
      By RotoWire Staff

Peavy (lower back strain) was placed on the 15-day DL on Saturday retroactive to Aug. 21. Albert Suarez was recalled in a corresponding move and will toe the rubber Saturday opposite Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz. Peavy has been wholly ineffective in 29 appearances this season, posting a 5.55 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, and he figures to return to the bullpen assuming he makes it back this season. A return timetable was not immediately provided but he will be eligible to return as soon as Sept. 5.

    • Giants' Jake Peavy: Candidate to start Saturday
      By RotoWire Staff

Bruce Bochy indicated Sunday that Peavy is considered the top candidate to start next Saturday's contest against the Braves, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Peavy would take the place of Matt Cain (back) in the rotation for Saturday, but his results as a starter this season (5.47 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) leave much to be desired. While the matchup may be decent enough, Peavy should only be considered as a flier candidate given that his stay in the rotation should be a short one.
