Pedroia will decide within the next few days whether he will undergo surgery on his left knee, ESPN.com's Scott Lauber reports. "If you were to get it fixed, the recovery is a long time," Pedroia said last week. "So, I have a lot of things to weigh with the doctors and figure it out." He has already seen a couple specialists to gauge his options, and we should know which route he will take later this week. It sounds like the surgery in question could affect his availability for the start of 2018, so this could be a noteworthy offseason development. Brock Holt is the top internal option to plug a hole at the keystone if Pedroia ends up missing time next season.
Pedroia will see two specialists later this week to receive further examination on his injured knee, Tim Britton of The Providence Journal reports. It appears as though Pedroia will see a specialist in New York on Wednesday, and follow that up with another evaluation to determine whether he will indeed need surgery on his knee. The second baseman's timetable will become easier to gauge once he decides the best way to heal this lingering injury, but at the moment, it's expected that he will be ready for spring training.
Pedroia will have his knee checked out Tuesday to determine if he needs to have surgery, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Pedroia has been dealing with a lingering knee issue since June, and he acknowledged during the season that -- while he was able to play through the pain -- it may require offseason surgery to repair. There should be a clearer idea regarding his status after he's evaluated Tuesday.
Pedroia (knee) is in the lineup for Game 1 of the ALDS against the Astros on Thursday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Pedroia returns to the lineup after sitting out the last couple regular-season contests while he continued to nurse a lingering knee ailment. He will bat in the sixth spot and man the keystone for the opening game as the club goes up against right-hander Justin Verlander. After a hot spurt to start September, Pedroia has since cooled off, and is just 3-for-36 at the dish since Sept. 15.
Pedroia (knee) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Astros, Tim Britton of The Providence Journal reports. Pedroia was scratched from Saturday's lineup as a precautionary measure due to wet field conditions. Pedroia missed nearly all of August to a knee injury that has since lingered. Boston will opt to start Brock Holt at second base again Sunday so Pedroia can focus on making sure he's ready for the team's upcoming playoff series against the Astros.
