• Brewers' Jakob Junis: Hit in head with ball during BP

  Junis (shoulder) was struck in the head by a ball during batting practice in Pittsburgh on Monday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. Junis was down on the field for several minutes after a ball hit by a Pirates player caught him in the head. He was alert and responsive after eventually getting to his feet and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. Junis is currently on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement and had recently began a throwing program.

  The Brewers placed Junis on the 15-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, with a right shoulder impingement. Junis first reported a problem with his shoulder shortly after his start Tuesday against the Twins. The 31-year-old righty underwent imaging Friday, and although the results came back clean, the Brewers won't risk pushing it. The plan is for him to rest for a couple days before ramping back up, so an extended stay on the IL doesn't seem likely. Aaron Ashby was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move and will presumably take Junis' spot in Milwaukee's rotation.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said the team is still waiting for imaging results to come back on Junis' shoulder, which will offer more information on whether or not the right-hander will be able to make his next start -- tentatively scheduled for Monday versus the Reds.
