According to head coach Fred Hoiberg, Payne (foot) will be sent down to the D-League's Windy City Bulls for a handful of days, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.

Payne has missed the past three games due to soreness in his foot and will now head to the D-League where he'll continue to rehab the injury. The team will reevaluate him a few days before deciding whether or not to recall the backup point guard. In his absence, Michael Carter-Williams will likely take over as the No. 2 point guard with Jerian Grant falling out of the rotation the past four games.
