Rondo agreed Saturday to a contract buyout with the Grizzlies and will become a free agent, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Unsurprisingly, the Grizzlies and Rondo agreed to part ways, as the veteran doesn't fit Memphis' timeline and the team has plenty of backup guards. According to Charania, the Lakers are the frontrunners to acquire Rondo. He was part of the Lakers' 2020 title run, and he averaged 8.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in the postseason.
