Since going undrafted out of NC State in 2016, Barber had bounced around between five G League teams and four international clubs before he finally received the opportunity to make his NBA debut in the Hawks' Christmas Day loss to the Knicks. The 27-year-old will give Atlanta some depth at guard in the short term while the Hawks are without 13 players due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols and another two due to injury heading into Wednesday's game in Chicago. The high number of absences across the roster helps Barber's odds of getting re-signed to a second 10-day deal, but he's unlikely to stick around in Atlanta for the balance of the season.
