Highsmith agreed Wednesday with the Heat on a 10-day hardship exemption, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
The 25-year-old has been playing in the G League with the Delaware Blue Coats this season, but he'll get the chance to make his first NBA appearance since the 2018-19 campaign as he joins the shorthanded Heat. Unless Miami loses several more players to injuries or the COVID-19 health and safety protocols, however, Highsmith isn't expected to handle a major role with the Heat.
