Lamb has more competition for playing time heading into the 2017-18 season after the Hornets selected Malik Monk with the 11th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft.

Lamb was already struggling for playing time in Charlotte, never having averaged more than 20 minutes per game over his five-year career, and the selection of Monk makes it very hard to believe Lamb will buck the trend in the season ahead, even with Marco Belinelli being shipped to Atlanta days earlier. If Monk struggles to begin his rookie season, the Hornets still have far more incentive leaving the rookie on the court since they're not exactly a team that will be in contention for a title in the near future.
