Lakers' D.J. Augustin: Heading to Lakers

The Lakers plan to sign Augustin later this week after the team informed center DeAndre Jordan of his release Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Augustin was waived by the Rockets in mid-February and will now join Los Angeles as veteran backcourt depth. The 34-year-old appeared in 34 games for Houston this season and averaged 5.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 40.6 percent from deep. He's unlikely to be available for the Lakers' next game Tuesday versus the Mavericks while he waits to finalize his contract, but he could make his team debut Thursday against the Clippers.
